Special Education in Chicago Public Schools

Federal law governs special education in many cases including Free Appropriate Public Education, Individuals with Disabilities Act, and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.

Together, FAPE, IDEA and FERPA provide for a strong basis for students with diverse needs to receive an equitable education.
